Round up + Last shows this Christmas

It’s Christmas and have I got some shows for YOUUUU.

But first I want to thank all my supporters who gave me so much energy and good will this year. Bucketfuls. Without you, I would have probably left this crazy, performance world behind and indeed I was quite close to it. It’s your kind words and messages of support that kept me going and I am looking forward to 2020 with 2020 vision and loads of ambitious plans.

It has been a jam packed year full new adventures in the work that I am making. This year was the year that I focused on community work: trying to create spaces for culture and creativity to blossom. I delivered a podcast called The Third Mountain, an art exhibition (a 360 degree colouring book, no less) called Very Famous Art To Colour In and the joyful, life affirming Legends and Legacies Ball that premiered at The Albany in September which is now, to my amazement and pride, heading at the Southbank Centre on December 20th. That project aimed to showcase a vibrant array of older LGBT+ stars and starlets.

Just recently Werk in Progress took over The Roundhouse with the support of Jonny Woo and The Glory. This was a personal highlight for me as I adored all the artists I had curated and have been thrilled to see them excel.

In September I returned to Dublin Fringe Festival with a heavenly themed cabaret/club show Deluxe Access which took Dublin night life by storm offering a long form cabaret experience with a twist. It is one of my all time favorite shows I’ve made and returns to VAULTS on January 31st.

I headed (with your support, thank you so much!) to Edinburgh Fringe for what was a challenging but worthwhile month of performances. Indeed, this experience changed my perspective on the modes in which I want to deliver work.

Going forward I am thinking ever more carefully about the contexts I perform in and the cost of the work on me personally and financially. You might have noticed a decrease in club and party gigs. That’s a choice. I’ve learned the less I do (but the more I charge for my work) the better I can do the job and offer audiences the best experience possible. It also means I have been able to take on larger scale projects that are more effective and memorable. I’ve stepped away from the tight knit East London club scene in an attempt to develop my own modes of making and community building.

In 2020 I have a few new projects to show you. Key words to munch on - British Colonialism, Air Guitar, Thomas Hardy and not giving a fuck.

As the year comes to a close I have one or two more events I’d love to see you at, all listed below.

Thank you for everything, and see you all soon.
